a little early! As my husbands 1st surgery is tomorrow morning and after that I will probably be away from the computer for a bit I thought I would share our christmas card...or should I say cyber card since I didn't actually get them sent out this year with everything that is going on.
I am going to extend the giveaway as you can still vote here once a day for me until after Christmas....I would appreciate it if you could take the time to do so. I will be back on the 26th to announce the winner and you never know how many winners I might announce....wink, wink! Leave a comment on this post to win.
Happy holidays for you and your family, and wish your husband a very good recovery
this is a very beautiful card

I voted again.
As for your husband's surgery, I am nurse and this is my advice to you- become very friendly with the nursing staff but if you think the nurse isn't doing his/her job than speak to the charge nurse immediately to either clear up misunderstandings or get a new nurse.
The only reason to be in the hospital is for nursing care right? The surgery, and therefore the doctor's work, is done and you need to be monitored by the nursing staff. You should never have to tolerate a nurse that isn't doing the best job possible but at the same time a great nurse can make your experience so much safer and so much more fun. Let's face it, a lot of hospital time is just plain boring.
Your husband should be made as comfortable as possible at all times. Be sure to ask lots of questions and set clear expectations with the staff as well as determine their expectations as to your involvement- are you setting up his food and assisting with feeding him or are they? Are you calling them when he needs pain meds or are they going to come and assess him regularly? Are you to call them to get him up to walk or toilet or are they going to do it? Physical therapy (or similar) should only be done when the patient has good pain management and isn't overly tired so if you don't think he can handle a therapy at the moment- request the therapist come back later and take care of the problems before that time. Most hospitalizations that are miserable are bad because of poor, communication, unmet expectation, and misinformation.
I will keep your family in my thoughts.

Janet,
You have a beautiful family and your card is great. Best of luck with your husband's surgery and hope he recovers quickly. I would like to offer a helping hand if you need it. Since I live in Carrollton I am really close. Would be happy to babysit or lend a hand where ever needed. Just ask. Hope y'all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I've been voting except, one day it said I already had. What a cute family, I'll be praying for your husband. The girls in our family like to do a "project" at Christmas, so we are going to decorate houses like the one in your picture.
