I mentioned yesterday that this kit is now up on the site and that I would put together a little tutorial about how I put mine together. I have been making these like crazy and on the sheet you purchase you have 25 total images to choose from so there are a ton. So lets get started...you will need to gather a few things like:
HOF3 Jewelry Printable, Tim Holtz Fragments, Glossy Accents
Chandelier Crystals, plastic jewels, beads and jumprings. I purchased the long hot pink jewel I used in the example necklace from Tracy at By Design Scrapbook Boutique when I was there teaching. But chandelier crystals, beads, bells, almost anything sparkly would be fun to use. What about these? I think they would be super fun! And look at these fun bells I found in these bright colors. LOVE THEM! The red ones actually have a velvet texture on them.
So once you have gathered your supplies and printed your page of tiles you are ready to start creating. I printed my sheet of tiles on Epson glossy photo paper but you could print them on textured cardstock, transparencies, sticker sheets, shrinky dink plastic, vellum. Pretty much anything but for my necklace I used photo paper.
Next, choose the tile you want to start with, coat the back of your fragment with glossy accents and adhere down over the tile you have chosen. You do not want to put tons of glue, just give it a nice coat, spreading it out with the tip of the glue bottle covering as much as possible. Push down on the fragment making sure you see glue covering the entire tile and I usually hold mine for about ten seconds to make sure it is secure.
Remember that you have several shapes in your fragments package so you could use several different shapes. Here I have used a smaller square and only used part of one of the tiles.
I did let mine dry for several hours....you do not have to but I like to make sure they are nice and secure before I start drilling and cutting on the tiles.
Once the tile is dry, using your scissors, trim around the edges of the tile. I then sanded the edges of mine to make sure it is nice and smooth.
Next you will want to drill your holes for the jumprings. I used a small drill bit and my husbands drill. I have a girlfriend who uses her Dremmel for this all of the time so I know those work as well.
So now comes the fun part...assembling them and adding jewels, bells, and beads. I have used a ball chain for my necklaces. I purchased them from etsy and they can be found here. She has fabulous colors to choose from.
The Peace Tags were a super easy way to attach the necklaces. And for the back side I just attached a small plastic bag to hold the bulk of the chain.
This would easily slip into a card where you can write your sentiment and have a gift ready for almost anyone! Teachers, neighbors, girlfriends, babysitters....I plan on making a few extras and slipping them in my purse for those times you forget someone on your list (please tell me I am not the only one that does this) and then you will have a super cute gift to pull out when you need it.
If you have any questions post them here and I will try to answer them. Enjoy!
I just love these.......you three are so talented.....love all of the Christmas designs and different ideas!!!!!
