right in the middle of getting kids in bed and a mile long to do list but I had to share my new favorite:
as if I needed another, right? I mean seriously...I don't think my house can hold anymore stuff! But, it has been fun and I thought I would share it with you guys.
On vacation I stumbled upon a bead store and found a few things that I couldn't live without...and if you have followed my blog at all you know I love necklaces, they make me happy. So I thought I would try picking up a few things to try my hand at it...and well I can't really do anything in moderation (I know Rick wishes I could, lol) and I wish that I could too, but not so much. So it became an obsession, I searched out every bead store in every town that we went to...Austin, San Antonio, Fredricksburg, Waco...it was a little insane but my sweet husband didn't say anything except "What address do I program into the navigation system?" for the next bead store I would seek out. So, needless to say one thing led to another and I started making things like crazy and I showed them to a few girlfriends, not really thinking anything about it and lo and behold I sold the first three necklaces I made. It shocked me that anyone was even interested but either I have sweet friends that really like me or the necklaces weren't half bad. (I am thinking it is probably more about the friends!)
So I have made a few more and listed them here if you want to take a peek...let me know what you think. Here are two of my favorites right now:
Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Sorry to be missing in action for so long....I hit the ground running when I returned from Edmonton and I don't think I have stopped since. Vacation was good, but why is it that I feel like I need a separate vacation to recover from the first vacation? Does anyone else ever feel that way? We actually left Jake with family and only took the older kids so that we could do some of the things that we would not have normally been able to do with him there (like eat at a restaurant and be able to hear yourself talk...just little things like that), he is quite a handful at times so it was nice to have a break but Mckinley said over and over how much she missed him and every day would ask when we were picking him up....so we know she can be sweet when she wants to, just not so much with her big brother.
We hit Austin, San Antonio, Fredricksburg, Waco and every other small town in between. I think that all the different hotels were the kids favorite part. I swear we could stay in town and just jump from hotel to hotel with nothing in between and they would be just fine with that, silly kids.
Mckinley's favorite part of vacation was definitely the boat ride on the riverwalk:
My favorite part of vacation...eating at Casa Rio on the riverwalk:
Taylor's favorite part of vacation...the Alamo and all of the surrounding buildings. He had just studied it in school so he thought it was so cool to actually be there in person:
And of course since I never seem to be able to plan ahead I hadn't prepared anything for the kids for Easter so when we returned Saturday night we were all so tired that no one wanted to leave to get anything again...man we are procrastinators. Why is that? But I did slip out on Sunday morning and picked up a few things and hid a few eggs and sweet Jake had a great time with it. He was so excited when he figured out there was chocolate in the eggs...can you tell? And then after the chocolate was gone he threw all of the eggs out into the yard again and was just as happy the second time collecting eggs in his pail. He is quite the big boy now, he can say "Oh yeah!" when he throws something and then claps for himself. He was definitely happy to see us return when we went to pick him up. It was so sweet to see them throw their arms around each other and hug each other over and over...makes all the fighting almost bareable...almost.
for the shadow box kit from the Girl's Night Out event. Meghan Denniston is the winner from my very scientific cut up the comments and put them in a hat drawing...congrats! Email me your address and I will mail out your kit.
I also wanted to say thank you so much for all of the emails and comments I received about the class project. It was a super fun event and the project was a fun one to design, I am glad you enjoyed taking a peek.
And...as promised a few pics from the event:
These were the stinkin' cute name badges that the girls made for everyone...so fun!
I'm telling you, these girls went all out...look how fun the room looks before we started:
And here is a pic of all three of us before we kicked off all the festivities....couldn't have gotten luckier with these girls...love them!
Ok...so there is my wrap up from the event...we are headed off for vacation tonight so I will not blog until I return sometime next week....enjoy your week and I will return with a challenge I have been thinking about that I think will be fun little project for everyone!
in Edmonton was absolutely wonderful! I met so many lovely ladies and was excited to get to spend Saturday night with them. Talia and Kim totally outdid themselves and I enjoyed spending some girl time with them on Friday....they spoiled me and and I can't thank them enough. Their project was so amazing, I know they will be posting photos soon so go and check them out when you can.
I was lazy and didn't want to carry my big camera with me along with everything else I had to take with me so I am waiting to get the photos from them so that I can post a few...so until then, here are photos I promised of the project I taught. We used the Runway collection and made a cute shadow box that had a mini book housed inside:
Keep posting your answers to my questions about classes (see my previous post) for the kit give-a-way...I will draw a winner tomorrow.
p.s. - I have gotten several emails about the Girl's Night Out kits...I do have a very limited quantity left so email me if you are interested. ETA - Kits are sold out...thanks!
p.s.s. - How can I post without a little necklace love...here is my necklace for today....so cute.
I decided since I have neglected the blog a bit that I would post a question or two and do a little give away! So here it is...answer the following questions in the comment section and I will save a kit from my class this weekend in Edmonton and pick a winner when I return on Monday!
Here is a sneak peek of the class to get an idea of what you will get if you win: Girl's Night Out Sneak Peek
So here are the questions:
1. What type of class do you prefer to take, project or technique driven? and why?
2. Tell me about your best class experience...what made it your favorite class?
And because I can't leave you without a photo...look at this cute necklace, makes me happy on a Friday...
Have a great weekend!
Texas is crazy I tell you...as you can see from my last post it snowed here last week and now it is sunny and in the 70's...absolutely beautiful. I wish it could stay like this all year round. The kids are starting to get spring fever, wanting to wear shorts to school but with the weather being as unpredicatable as it has been I haven't let them break out the shorts...yet...don't want to jinx the nice weather.
I have been busy getting ready to leave for Canada this weekend but I did take a break tonight to try to back up some of the tons of photos that I have been neglecting and found these three that made me smile.
This photo was taken at Mckinley's Christmas pageant. She was busy following Jake around and "mothering him" as we like to call it and was quite annoyed that her friend kept trying to touch him. Her friend would say "He is so cute!" and try to touch his head and Mckinley would put herself between them and say (in her sweetest big sister voice) "Yes, God made him really cute, but please don't touch him!" She is very protective of him and keeps a very close eye on him!
And Jake...listening to the ipod. Obviously this is not his ipod...Rick has an extra ipod shuffle that he got for his birthday and Mckinley is obsessed with listening to it so we put a few Hannah Montana songs on there and let her listen to it from time to time. When we came in the family room the other night she had put it on Jake and he was thoroughly enjoying himself, dancing and singing at the top of his lungs, every time it would fall out of his ears he would walk right back over to her and stand perfectly still for her to put them back in...so stinkin' cute. And he enjoyed the attention he got from everyone laughing and clapping for him...little goof!
I will try to post from the road but if I can't I promise I will post pictures of the project when I return.
I guess this is what you get when you complain about the cold in Canada...it comes to visit you!
I haven't seen snow like this in a long time...some of the biggest snowflakes I have ever seen. I have to admit though, I am not really looking forward to a snow day with all three kids cooped up in the house. Bad Mommy, did I just say that out loud?
here. Had so much fun putting this class together. Can't wait to go and teach it on the 15th....just wish it wasn't going to be so cold there. I am such a huge wimp when it comes to the cold!
Actually, here in Texas it was 76 degrees yesterday...and today it is sleeting and 37 degrees?!?! How am I supposed to dress a child for weird weather like this? I am so confused. Here's to hoping that you have better (or at least a little more consistent) weather where ever you may be today!
