wow, all that stress, shopping and worry and the kids managed to make the room look like a bomb went off in about seven minutes flat. How is that? lol We had Christmas with my side of the family on the Saturday night before Christmas) and since my sister helped us out by finding a Wii for us in New York we decided that we would go ahead and give the kids the big family present early. We had already decided that we were not making that from Santa (why should he get all the glory...right?) so that was a huge hit for the night and was what Taylor wanted to play immediately of course! My sister gave me this jacket that I had seen in the window at Anthropolgie one night as we were having dinner...I was shocked that she remembered, so thoughtful of her.
Then we spent a really lazy Christmas Eve at home and Mckinley and I even snuck in a pedicure that night! It was really fun to see her get so excited about the snowmen they put on her fingernails. She loves going with me and I don't take her as often as I should. Thank goodness we had spent a lazy day because then of course the madness of Christmas Eve once the kiddos are in bed...lots of wrapping, lots of getting out and assembling "Santa's gifts" and lots of eating Santa's cookies...tough job but someone has too!
Christmas morning was good...Jake only wanted to play with anything Mckinley had (of course) he wanted nothing to do with unwrapping his own presents. It was a totally foreign concept to him. All of this time I have been telling him NOT to destroy things and then we were cheering him on to rip things up?? What the heck is the look he kept giving us, silly boy. It was actually pretty funny that he wouldn't do it. He would only open presents that were in gift bags...and then unfortunately he would open any present in a gift bag even if they weren't his! Oops...he spoiled a few presents for his cousins when we weren't looking. This week he has started making this new face, we called it his surprised face...
I think it is so funny when he makes this face so when I caught it in this photo I had to laugh.
We are in Christmas overload here trying to reorganize the house to fit in all of the new things the kids received. Not an easy task when they received so much stuff. I can't believe how much they got from everyone....it was out of control! And then today my present was delivered...a new car. We have been talking about getting one for quite some time now but hadn't taken the plunge but it was delivered today and boy is it pretty...so many gadgets...so little time.
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday with their loved ones, we have already decided that Christmas in Hawaii sounds really good for 2008. I just hope we don't chicken out.
I leave you with this photo from Christmas last year....look how much Jake has grown. Makes me sad when I actually think too much about it...
Happy New Year!
