I have been promising you I would get the Valentine's project kit posted and I am a bit behind (sorry) but here it is! I am excited about it as it is not at all what you would think of when you think traditional valentine's day colors or images....and I like that! When I first started my design process I tried really hard to come up with something a little more traditional but then I thought...why? Why does it have to be pink, red, black or white and then I kind of did my own thing as you can see! ;)

I am thrilled to announce that I will be releasing my first collection with Bazzill. I have enjoyed working with this companies quality products for years and still do almost every time I create. I have to admit though...what I love the most are the people behind the company, they are an amazing group and I am excited to have teamed up with them for my first release.
Introducing:
This is a travel(ish) themed collection....and I say that hesitantly as it can be used for so much more. The papers are universal in their designs and can be used for anything from everyday moments, to vacations, or whatever journey you are on in your life. Stay tuned to the blog for more details, sneak peeks and projects using the collection!
There will be four designer lines released at CHA by Bazzill. One of the other collections will be from the very talented Margie Romney, which I have already seen a sneak peek of, and it is so lovely and so her! There are also two other fun lines that you will not want to miss.

and these last 12 days that is what I have done...taking a break and really trying to start this year off the way I NEEDED it to start. So I took a step back from the blog and have been focusing on the needful and I must say it has been nice and very productive. We have put so many things in place around here in both our home and in our life that I am excited about this year and the path that we are on. So thank you for your patience and for checking in on me....we are good! And I apologize for my lack of posts around here but I promise to do better and be around here more now that we have taken our much needed break!
During our hiatus (which included some major purging and reorganizing of several areas of our home) I ran across two of these frames which I had saved for myself to make as gifts during the holidays, but, well you know where I am going with this....I actually forgot that I had stashed them away months ago in the closet and then when the holidays rolled around bought presents instead and now I am going to offer them to you so that you can make gifts if you want. If you are interested in them just email me and I will give you the details. I ONLY HAVE THE FRAMES...NO KITS OR CONTENTS, JUST THE ORNATE FRAMES. They are wood and accept paint and mist beautifully. They really are fun to work with and I love the shape of them. The inside measurement of the frame is 8.5" x 12". These were never sold retail and were exclusively manufactured by Pink Paislee for my Creative Escape class. Here are two projects I made with it:
I couldn't resist holding back just one and I made this project which I will post soon....here is a little sneak peek.
So see I did get a little work done during the break but the rule was it had to be something fun...that didn't feel like work so I played a lot in the studio which is always a good thing and something I don't get to do very often!
I have some exciting things to share soon and I am hoping it will be early next week when I can finally share all of the details. I am also finishing up some fun valentine love which I will get up next week.

We are about to head off to celebrate with family today but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year!
I know that this year as a family we have set some very lofty goals and are looking forward to an exciting year ahead. I know there will be challenges but I am excited about the changes we have in store for us and have already set some in motion and are waiting to hear back on which will happen first!

Found these new clock faces the other day treasure hunting and of course I needed to add them to my collection. It seemed the appropriate time with the new year approaching, don't you think? We are still enjoying our holiday festivities and still have one more christmas celebration to attend if you can believe that! (we both have big families) but we also have a few New Year's parties to attend so I made these today to take as little gifts for the host and I thought the kids would enjoy handing them out to our neighbors as well.
I went to Ikea and purchased the bottles. I think they were $1.69 maybe? Then I filled them with different types of beverages. Some were rasberry lemonade, some were cider. Then I used the New Year's Printable Tag Kit below and I was done. (I used a circle punch and my Martha scoring tool to finish them off) I then loaded them back in the box and now they are ready to be passed out to the kids friends when they come by or when they go to their houses to play. I also printed more to put on wine and champagne bottles for the adult friends! ;)

I hope everyone is really slowing down and making an effort to enjoy time with family and reflect on the true meaning of the season. I know that is what we are trying to do and it has been so nice. The kids didn't get much of a Christmas last year so we are really trying to make up for it this year so I apologize for being a little MIA here on the blog. But I wanted to pop on for a quick second to say Merry Christmas and hope that your holiday is filled with joy! I will be back next week with some new products, projects and a few new tutorials that I have been working on so check back!
I will be loving on these cuties until then...as I am typing this post I can hear Blakely in the other room singing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Sweet girl!

we were waiting on the first of my husbands surgeries. It was scheduled for 12/22 and then his heart surgery was to be 7 days later. It has been quite a year and as we reflected on it this weekend and looked back at the photos of last years christmas we were reminded just how far we have come and how lucky we are to say we survived it! We are so grateful to have it all in the past and look forward to a christmas with my husband here at home with us and not in the hospital. I am happy to report that he is 100% healthy now and despite the fact that his voice never fully recovered he is back to his normal routine and is even running and has started his work out regimen again so the doctors were right (imagine that) it would take a year for him to feel 100% but he is back and it feels great to get back some semblance of normal around here (whatever that is).
I guess this is what normal looks like...at least for us. Blakely had her Christmas pageant on Friday. This is her when she spotted me in the crowd, she yelled "There's my Mommy!" really loud three times just in case anyone missed it the first two times and then proceeded to try to get the boy next to her to look at me and almost knocked him off the stage...poor boy. I guess she was excited ;)
And of course here she is singing Where is Santa....I am AMAZED that the teachers were able to teach these two year olds three songs with the motions and everything and they did every bit of it with no outbursts or crying with a smile on their face. I was so proud!
And then of course as I mentioned on Friday we were going to try to get photos of the kids this weekend which is my husbands least favorite thing (in the world I think) to do but we survived although it was dicey there for a while.

She was our comic relief the entire time we were trying to get photos. The only thing she wanted to do was walk around with this candy cane and say HO HO HO. It made the kids laugh every time. Me not so much when I wanted to get photos of her! ;)

Quite a few people have emailed asking questions about where I have gotten a few things I have posted about lately here on the blog so I thought I would try to answer a few of those questions here and compile a list of sorts on some of the places I have found cool stuff in case you are looking for any last minute gifts!
Many of the things I post here are vintage meaning I have found them at flea markets and/or small antique malls. They seem to be the places where I have found the best "junk" (at least in my area). I was lucky enough to get to meet up with my friend Tracy for a second time earlier this month with another group of awesome ladies from Houston and we made the rounds again of McKinney and Canton and we had a lovely time. I was blessed to get to spend two days with them and I was able to dig up a few more treasures along the way, here are a few of the things I got.
The vendor that I bought this pile from kept yelling "Make a pile, we'll make you smile!" and he did just that. I paid a ridiculously small amount for this. There are actually two more pieces that go in this pile but I made a Christmas basket that hangs on my door that I used two of them on. I also scored around 25 vintage glass ornaments throughout the two days.
I said I was just going to get just a few to fill a glass container I have....but once I start seeing something it's hard for me to stop...right Dusty? ;) So if you have any in your area check them out, you never know what types of treasures you might find.

They are located in Canada but their shipping has always been fair, fast and she has been awesome to work with so (based on my personal experiences and purchases with them) I highly recommend them.

Well you are in luck as it looks as if she has one more set in her store. She also has some lovely vintage ephemera and lace for your mixed media projects.
Etsy in general as I am sure you know by now is a great place to find hand made artisans that make unique treasures. I shop there a lot!
Another great gift idea I found this year that I am doing for all of my teenage nieces, which I seem to have a lot of this year, (how did they all grow up so fast??) are these journals that you can personalize. They are really cute!
I have already received the personalized ones with the girls names on them but I forgot to take a photo before I wrapped them (oops!)...so I grabbed the photo from their website. You can see all of the different ones they have here. I had a super hard time choosing. You can customize the inside cover as well. I did a different journal for each girl since all of their first names start with a K! I didn't want them worrying about getting them mixed up and going to class with the wrong homework.
They also have some really cool christmas cards if you are still searching for one to print. If I could get all four of my children to sit and actually look at the camera for a photo I would send one of these two cards:
I would also dress my children in these colors as well....or maybe I should just send this card with this photo and call it a day....such a cute family and they have four kids, two boys, two girls?!? I guess people might notice though uh? I do love the way the Mom dressed them though, might have to try that!
But the odds of that happening are about the same as me winning the lottery. I am going to give the whole family photo shoot thing a whirl this weekend though so wish me luck. I may be back on Monday saying it was an epic fail with only out takes instead but that's ok too I guess!
Tomorrow is a big day in our house, my assistant is starring in her first preschool Christmas pageant at 9:30 am so I am sure I will be torturing you with her cuteness tomorrow!
